This slide illustrates the distribution of the 41 collecting areas relative to the Tranquillity Demonstration Site (the center of the circles). Collecting areas are represented by triangles, the size of which is proportional to the number of native species noted at each site. The circles illustrate various collecting radii.

It can be seen that a number of the most speciose collecting areas are situated in the foothills and along the “transition” between foothills and valley floor. Nevertheless, there are still a number of speciose sites situated approximately 16 km (10 mi) from the Demonstration Site.
