In order to assess the suitability of these 151 native species for proposed restoration work, it is necessary to consider the community types with which they are said to be associated.

Community associations for each species were determined based on information in the CalFlora database. One hundred and seven of the 151 “collectable” species were said to be associated with the Valley Grassland and/or Alkali Sink communities. These two communities were selected for these analyses because they represent target communities of our restoration efforts.

It can be seen that these 107 species represent only a very small portion (20.1%) of the species that were said to be associated with these two communities types in Fresno county.
